The Chinese New Year begins on the first of January according to the lunar calendar. The celebration can last to half a month. No matter how far the journey back to home is, everyone would return to their home for their family and on the Eve of the Chinese New Year, they will have reunion dinners together.
Then, they will relax and watch Television together cosily and wait for the clock to strike twelve and the beginning of a brand new year. It has been part of the culture and tradition for people to visit their friends and relatives during the period of the Chinese New Year. The festival is especially joy to children as they can receive many Ang Pows during visits.
