AVG 打击率 Batting Average -- divide the total number of safe hits (not the total bases on hits) by the total times at bat

B 坏球数 balls
Balk 投手犯规 Illegal act by the pitcher with a runner or runners on base, entitling all runners to advance one base.
Batter 击球员 The player whose turn it is to bat.
BB 四坏球 Base on Balls (walk)
BF 投球人次 batters faced
BFS 投手过劳指数 batters faced per start
Bottom of the Inning 某局下半 When the home team is at bat
BS 救援失败 blown saves
Bunt 触击 A batted ball not swung at, but intentionally met with the bat and tapped slowly within the infield.
Bush League 小联盟 Another term for minor league

C 捕手 catcher
CF 中外野手 center fielder
CG 完投场次 complete games(pitcher pitched all nine innings)
Change-up 变速球 Term that describes a pitch that is intentionally thrown slower than the pitcher's average speed.
CS 盗垒失败 caught stealing
Curve Ball 曲线球 A pitched ball that is thrown so that it swerves from its normal course on the way to the batter.

D

Designated Hitter 指定击球员 A player who is placed in the lineup to bat in place of the pitcher. The DH is only used in the American League and minor leagues. In the National League, the pitcher bats for himself.
Division Series 分区决赛 A five-game series determining the participants in the League Championship Series. The three division winners and a wild-card team from each league participate in the Division Series.
DL 受伤名单 disabled list
DP 双杀 Double Play: When two outs are made in one play.
Double Header Back to back games.

E

E 失误 Error: A misplayed ball. An error is charged when the fielder would normally be able to make a play but did not.
ER 投手责任失分 Earned Run: A run scored on hits with out the benefit of an error.
ERA 投手防御率 ERA: Earned Run Average -- Multiply the number of earned runs by nine; divide the total by innings pitched
Extra Base Hit 多垒安打 Any hit that is not a single (i.e. a double, triple or home run)
Extra Innings 附加赛 Any game that lasts more than the regulation nine innings.

FB 投手被击出飞球 Fly Ball: A batted ball that does not travel along the ground, but in the air.
FPCT 守备率 Fielding Average: Divide a fielder's total number of putouts by total chances (putouts, assists, and errors).
Fielder's Choice 守备选择 The act of a fielder who handles a fair grounder and, instead of throwing to first base to put out the batter/runner, throws to another base in an attempt to put our a preceding runner.
Fastball 快速球 A pitch that does not swerve or curve but is thrown straight over the plate. Most fastball pitchers throw more than 90 miles per hour.
Force Out 被迫进垒 When the batter causes the lead runner to be forced out at the next base.

HP 触身球次数 times hit by pitch
HR 全垒打 ; 投手被全垒打 A fair ball hit beyond the fielder's reach, enabling the batter to circle all the bases an score a run.
Hit and Run 打跑掩护 Just as the pitcher pitches the ball, the runner on first base races toward second, forcing the second baseman or shortstop to cover the base. The batter then attempts to hit the ball through the "hole" left by the fielder who moved to cover second.

Intentional Walk 故意保送 A defensive play in which the pitcher intentionally throws the batter 4 pitches that are outside the strike zone (balls), thus walking him.

League Championship Series 联盟冠军决赛 A best-of-seven series to determine the participants in the World Series. The two winners of the Division Series in each league participate in the League Championship Series.
Line Drive 低平球 A batted ball that is hit low in the air on a horizontal line to the outfield.
Lineup 打击顺序 A list of the players participating in a game, containing the batting order and position played by each player.

MVP 最有价值球员 most valuable player
Major Leagues 大联盟 The American and National Leagues.
Minor Leagues 小联盟 Professional baseball teams at a lower level than the major leagues. The minor leagues are used as a stepping stone to the majors.

OF 外野手 outfielder
Out (tagged) 触杀出局 The runner is called out when the fielder touches him with the ball.
Out (thrown): 封杀出局 The runner is called out when the batted ball reaches the base before he does.
On-Base Percentage Divide the on-base total hits (hits, walks, times hit by pitcher) by total plate appearances (at-bats, walks, times hit by pitcher and sacrifice flies).

Playoffs 季后赛 In Major League Baseball, a five-game series that is played to determine the participants in the League Championship Series league division champion or a seven-game series played to determine the league champion.

Scoring Position 得分垒 A runner's position on second base or third base, from where he will normally be able to score if the batter hits a fair ball.
Shutout 完败 A game in which the losing team scores no runs.
Switch Hitter 左右选打 A batter who is able to bat effectively both right and left-handed.
Slugging Percentage Divide total bases by the total times at bat, not including walks, sacrifices, times hit by pitcher or interference.
